I've had my computer built for about 4 months already using this processor. It haven't gave me no problems, & works very good. I did try too overclock it, but faild. My computer wouldn't even start right/run correctly, so I said F that. I have the correct MOBO for it, I've even saw someone on youtube over clock it. I guess it just wouldn't do it for me, but other than that.....it's Great.

This is a fantastic processor. Using an Asus P5Q Pro Turbo, I have the Q8400 at a stable 3.6Ghz. I've pushed it up to 4.0Ghz, got windows to open, went online, messed around for about 30 minutes without any problems. But it shut down after about 20 minutes of a Prime95 stress test. I'm willing to bet that if I spent more time messing around with the voltage, I couldv'e easily attained a stable 4.0Ghz overclock. But as it sits right now, I've been at 3.6Ghz since December '09 without any problems. After a 12 hour, 100% load stress test, the temps maxed out at 58 Degrees. I'm using a Xigmatek Dark Knight CPU cooler (Air). So if you're running a stock cooler, you might have problems with the temp if you OC to 3.6Ghz. But even at the stock speed, this processor can easily handle just about anything you throw at it. All in all, its a great CPU. Great for multitasking, gaming, heavy computing or basic computing. If you think the 2.6Ghz is kind of weak.....its not. You'd be surprised at how well this does at stock speed. And if you do OC, you'll probably be very happy with the results.

Its a very fast CPU, and its very cheap.
I used for a gamoind rig, it even runs Crysis.
Very easy to overclock too, i got it stable @3.1ghz

Speed wise its not one of the fastest but give it a heavy load an watch the processing power at work. I'm notorious for multi-tasking and is very satisfied with this performance. Sure for $100 more I can upgrade but I would have to upgrade the memory to DDR3. That $100 can buy more DDR2 4Gig chips and you can't tell that much of a difference. This is a solid product. Do your own research. This is only my opinion.

OK, be realistic. This thing smokes! i am running windows 7 64bit, and this thing sits at about 4% usage at all times. i have peaked at 50% at times like when im running a game, unzipping a 4+gig file, browsers open, musics playing, virus scans going.. etc.. i know the cache on its low and the 9550 is only 100$ more, but thats a 100$!!! and this processor probably wont be your bottleneck, you'll be buying new ddr3 ram and bla bla bla.. look if your gonna go above the q8400.. then just buy the i7 920 and have the octocore (HT quad). if you want something that gets rediculous benchmarks under 200 bucks... get this one!!
