The other review is factually wrong. The included brackets are frustrating, but compatable with AM2 and AM3 motherboards. This heat sink is not a top end product for use with massive overclocks but is perfectly suitable for most jobs. I currently am using it with a Phenom II 720 @3690 mhz and it is sufficient cooling. The included fan is high quality but I use a different one to suit my tastes. I have also used it on AM2 machines.

DO NOT BUY THIS!
Bought this to put on a socket AM2 motherboard. The advertising by the manufacturer and their manual says it will work with a socket AM2 motherboard, and will do so using the typical retention frames that almost always come with socket AM2 motherboards.
However, this heatsink DOES NOT WORK WITH SOCKET AM2 MOTHERBOARDS despite all of these things stated by the manufacturer. The mounting clip that it comes with has two hinged pieces that are supposed to reach down and engage the tabs on a typical socket AM2 retention frame, but the crossbar portion of this mounting clip is TOO LONG -- they actually goofed on how long to make this simple piece of metal hardware!!!
The original motherboard I got this for is a Gigabyte GA-M59SLI-S5. But when I saw this problem, I tried to see if it would have the same problem on a Supermicro H8SMA-2, and it does -- so this is not a motherboard-specific problem.
It's never a good sign when something like an elaborate heatsink with heatpipes, etc., comes with mounting hardware that isn't even the correct dimensions. Skip this heatsink and choose one made by someone else!
